Bergholt, Boxford, Bramford, Brantham, Capel, Claydon, Debenham, Framlingham, Grundisburgh, Haughley, Kirton, Kesgrave, Lavenham, Martlesham, Needham Market, Saxmundham, Shotley, Somersham, Sproughton, Stradbroke, Stowupland, Washbrook, Woolverstone and Woodbridge – what do they have in common apart from being attractive places in Suffolk?
They are all ward names at Ipswich’s Heath Road hospital and Nick Hulme, the chief executive there, had the idea of cycling to all of them over three days. He has agreed to lead by example and is taking on this 200 mile challenge and is looking for people to join him on all 3 days or on the Sunday, with each day starting and finishing at the hospital.
Day 1: Friday 26th June will be
approximately 72 miles.
Day 2: Saturday 27th June is approximately 75 miles.
Day 3: Sunday 28th June is approximately 53 miles.
Days 1 and 2 include morning tea and a lunch stop, day 3 has a morning food stop and a final celebration back at the hospital at the end of the ride.
The rides are supporting the Sunrise Appeal which is for the neonatal and paediatric units at the hospital. There is more information online, where you can also download a sponsorship form, set up your own Justgiving page, or simply make a donation to the appeal.
The organisers are also looking for volunteers to help on the days with the start and finish as well as the food stops, putting out signage, being a marshall on the route, helping with First Aid, and other tasks. You can volunteer by emailing charity@ipswichhospital.nhs.uk or phoning (01473) 702930.
And of course, if you live in any of the named places, it would be great if you would cheer on the cyclists as they come through.

Few holiday homes are booked all year round so why not put a spare week to good use?
They connect UK holiday homeowners with young families coming to terms with a terminal or severely life-limiting illness. Directory lets owners 'bank' a week so that healthcare professionals can 'withdraw'.
Owners can be confident that their house is in good hands. Families are commonly referred by their children's hospice team but they also work with some Macmillan nurses and hospital trusts. Homes with Heart manages the booking so that families can just pack and go.
The purpose of our owners, supporters and the care teams we work with is simple ....To give families the gift of time away, so they can rest, recharge and fight on.
Old Framlinghamians - OF
Family Fun Day and Summer Party
With the College approaching its 150th anniversary, it will be great for a mix of people to get together who have all experienced life at the School during the more recent years of its development. The 150th Appeal will play an essential role in allowing the College to move into its next phase, with the Paul’s Court capital project at the heart of that development. The OF Summer Party reunion evening on the 28th June this year will be the perfect opportunity for a large group of Old Framlinghamians to contribute to the fundraising effort whilst also enjoying what shall be a brilliant evening with old friends and familiar faces.
To make the most of this weekend we have linked it to the popular OF Family Day organised by the College. If you are interested in coming along to either event please contact:
OF Summer Party Mel Dellow
OF Family Fun Day Jane Easey
We have lists of B&B accommodation for those that want to stay in the area for the whole weekend.
Peter Lawrence (G90-03), Matt Truman (R92-97), Marcus Booth (Z90-95) (OF Summer Party Committee).
